Videos, webinars and online courses
1 min read
Situation
A YouTube video, a recorded webinar, an online course, a podcast episode, a foreign news broadcast. No subtitles, or subtitles in the wrong language.
Benefits
- Live subtitles in your language for anything playing in your browser, even when the video has none.
- A transcript you can search and copy, instead of scrubbing back and forth through the video.
- An AI Summary of an hour-long webinar in a few paragraphs.
Mode and setup
Two ways, both on a computer:
- Chrome extension: open the video, click the Saydi icon on the right edge, choose One-Way. The subtitles appear in a floating window over the video. This is the simplest option.
- Website: open saydi.ai/console/translate-one-way in another tab, set the audio source to System / Tab, pick the tab with the video and click Start Talking.
Notes
- Pause the video when you pause Saydi so the transcript stays in sync.
- Videos with a lot of music translate less well; speech-only content gives the best results.
- Long videos use credits per minute. Check your balance before a 3-hour course.
Result
The transcript and summary in History. Copy Translation only into your notes.
