Conferences and large events
1 min read
Situation
A conference, a product launch, a forum with foreign guests, a company anniversary. Hundreds of attendees, speakers in 2 or 3 languages, an audience that needs several more. Traditional interpretation requires booths, headsets and a large budget.
Benefits
- Every attendee reads live subtitles on their own phone in the language they choose. They scan a QR code and pick a language; no application and no headset.
- Adding audience languages does not add interpreters.
- Speakers can switch language mid-session; Saydi detects it.
- The organizer receives a transcript of every session afterwards.
Mode and setup
Use Event Mode.
- Create the event, set the speakers' language and the languages attendees can choose. Put the QR code on the screen, the standee and the printed programme.
- Feed the audio from the venue's mixer into the Saydi computer over a wired connection. This is the most important step; see Stage tech.
- 10 days before, send Saydi the speakers' names, organizations and topic vocabulary. Run a remote rehearsal 2–3 days before.

Notes
- Wi-Fi, not the software, is the usual bottleneck. Tell attendees they can use mobile data.
- Ask the MC to read the QR announcement at the start and after every break.
- Have one technical contact from the venue reachable throughout.
After the event
Transcripts per session in every language you offered. Attendees have nothing to clean up; they simply close the page.
