Lectures and studying
1 min read
Situation
You are studying in a language that is not your first: a university lecture, an online course, a seminar, a language exchange. The teacher speaks quickly, you are taking notes, and you miss things.
Benefits
- The whole lecture appears as text while it is being spoken, translated into your language. You can listen instead of writing.
- Afterwards you have the full transcript and an AI Summary of the key points, so revision starts from a clean document.
- Technical terms you add to AI Context are recognised consistently, which matters in medicine, law and engineering.
- Language learners can read the original and the translation side by side.
Mode and setup
One-Way on a laptop in class, or the phone app when you are on the move. For recorded lectures and online courses, see Videos and online courses.
- Set Translate to to your language.
- Sit near the front, or use a small clip-on microphone if the room is large.
- Click Start Talking at the beginning and Done at the end.
Notes
- Add the course vocabulary to AI Context before the first class. The syllabus is a good source.
- Ask permission before recording a lecture; many universities require it.
- Use Free scroll in Display to look back without losing the live text.
Result
A transcript per lecture in History, with a summary. When revising, search across all of them.
