Teams, Google Meet and Zoom

1 min read

Microsoft Teams first, in detail. Google Meet and Zoom work the same way; the differences are at the end. 2 ways to get live translation in a call. The extension is the neat one if you use Teams in Chrome or Edge. The website works with any Teams, including the desktop app.

Which one for you?

You useDo this
Teams in the browser (Chrome, Edge, Cốc Cốc)Way 1: the Saydi extension. Captions sit next to the call, no window juggling.
Teams desktop app on Windows or MacWay 2: the Saydi website with System / Tab audio. Nothing to install.
You want the other people on the call to see the translation tooEither way, then share your screen and show the Saydi window.

Way 1: the extension inside Teams (browser)

  1. Install the extension once. See Chrome extension. Sign in to it with your Saydi account.
  2. Open Teams in the browser at teams.microsoft.com and join your meeting.
  3. Click the Saydi icon on the right edge of the page (or the Saydi button next to the address bar) and choose Two-Way.
  4. In the side panel, set the 2 languages: yours and the other side's.
  5. Click Start Recording. The panel listens to the meeting audio and shows the transcript and translation as people speak.
  6. When the call ends, click stop. The session is saved in your History with an AI Summary.

Use headphones

Without them, Saydi hears the other side twice: once from the call and once from your speakers through your mic.

Way 2: the website next to the Teams app

  1. Join the Teams meeting as usual.
  2. In a browser, open saydi.ai/console/translate-two-way.
  3. At the bottom left, click the button next to the mic icon. Choose System / Tab if you only need the other side translated, or Both if you also want your own words in the transcript. Pick the Teams window or your screen when the browser asks what to share.
  4. Click Start Talking. Put the Saydi window next to Teams, or click Mini window to float it over the call.

Windows: choosing System / Tab lets you pick the Teams window directly. Mac: the browser can only capture a Chrome tab or the whole screen. If Teams is the desktop app, choose Entire screen (with "share audio" ticked), run Teams in a browser tab, or use the Mac app, which captures desktop application audio directly.

Show the translation to everyone on the call

In Teams, click Share → choose the Saydi window. Everyone sees the live transcript and translation. Use Full screen in Saydi first so the text is large.

Known limits

  • Teams can't send Saydi's translation into its own live captions. Saydi runs alongside, in a panel or a shared window.
  • If people talk over each other on the call, ask them to unmute one at a time. Overlapping speech is the top cause of errors.
  • Names and project codes: add them to AI Context before the call.

Google Meet and Zoom

Same 2 ways, same steps.

  • Meet always runs in the browser, so the extension is the natural fit: join the meeting at meet.google.com, click the Saydi icon on the right edge, choose Two-Way, Start Recording. To show others the translation, use Meet's Present now → A window and pick the Saydi window (or present the tab with the panel open).
