Meeting a foreign partner
1 min read
Situation
You are meeting a partner, supplier or customer who does not speak your language: a Japanese buyer, a Korean investor, a colleague from the head office. The meeting is a two-way exchange: both sides present, ask questions and answer. Typically 2 to 10 people around a table.
Benefits
- Everyone speaks their own language at a normal pace. The translation appears on screen after 1–2 seconds, so the conversation keeps its rhythm.
- No waiting for an interpreter and nothing is condensed into a summary. You read the full sentence the other side just said.
- After the meeting you have a written record in both languages to send to your manager, your partner or colleagues who could not attend.
- Quieter participants take part more easily because they can follow what is being said.
Mode and setup
Use Two-Way.
- Set the 2 languages in the top bar: yours and your partner's. When someone speaks, Saydi detects the language and shows the translation in the other column; no further action is needed.
- Place a conference microphone in the middle of the table. Position the laptop or a TV so both sides can read the screen.
- Before the meeting, enter the names of both companies, the participants and your products in AI Context. This takes about 5 minutes and prevents names from being misheard.
Notes
- Ask each person to finish their sentence before the other side replies. This is the single largest factor in translation accuracy.
- For figures, prices and dates, speak clearly and check the screen.
Keep Voice off in a face-to-face meeting so the synthetic voice does not talk over the participants.
After the meeting
A transcript in both languages with speaker labels and timestamps. In History, choose Export → Formatted and attach it to your follow-up email the same day.
